Tower 1 is a project that unfortunately could not be completed. A 55-story office tower, Tower 1 was to be located at Platz der Einheit, an exceptional location in the heart of the Frankfurt business district. The concept that was created under our direction between December 2000 and December 2002 would have the potential to set new standards in the Frankfurt office market even today.

Our goal was to create an office tower that would maximize rentable floor space and user friendliness. In the planning process, we left nothing to chance. The final design is the result of our close cooperation with architect Jean Nouvel, a number of engineering consultants and the building permit authorities of the City of Frankfurt.

The entrance hall, featuring a 65-foot-ceiling, welcomes tenants and visitors with a distinguished atmosphere. Glass, red marble and high-grade steel define the visual appearance. Oversized elevators lead up to the office floors. Superior tenant comfort was provided by a sophisticated interior design, ceilings heights of 10 feet in the offices and windows that can be opened.

As a result of a number of intelligent planning solutions, the ratio of rentable to total floor area exceeded eighty percent. The floor plans were organized to allow for up to four separate tenants per floor without any emergency exits passing through an adjacent tenant’s space. This is an important security feature for a high-rise building.
