Our assignment for this project was to develop a detailed design concept within the framework of an agreement between the site’s owner and the City of Frankfurt. Construction and leasing was to be carried out by a third party shopping center operator at a later point in time. Not an easy task. We tried to identify the best concept within these parameters.
Our goal was to design a “lifestyle” shopping center, which would attract visitors from Frankfurt’s affluent suburbs and beyond. We defined a circular, two-story shopping arcade set around an open piazza. Restaurants are integrated in the mall and along the open piazza. The piazza itself was to be used differently depending on the season.
A detailed planning concept was also created for an elaborate underground parking garage designed for about 500 cars, as well as for logistics and utilities.
The objective was to generate an exceptional shopping experience. With The Jerde Partnership from Santa Monica, California, we were able to work with an architectural firm that has repeatedly and successfully proven in highly diverse projects all over the world that creative architecture and attention to detail can attract tenants and visitors alike.
Hühne Immobilien provided development services for this project, which was to be constructed by a third party shopping center operator. Our primary assignment was detailed conceptual design and management of preliminary planning within the framework of an agreement between the site’s owner and the City of Frankfurt.
Hühne Immobilien’s development team consisted of 8 persons for the duration of this project.
